can you run valgrind against mythbackend:

valgrind --leak-check=full --error-limit=no --show-reachable=yes --log-file=logfile -v -- /usr/bin/mythbackend --daemon --logfile /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log --pidfile /var/run/mythtv/mythbackend.pid | tee backend.log
