which seems to indicate that my / zfs understanding of the fallocate kernel flags are not what is done on other filesystems (and expected by stuff).

If needed, we can look into pulling in https://github.com/openzfs/zfs/pull/13338/files

Please let me know if setting zfs_fallocate_reserve_percent=0 is a workaround for now.
