Bug Description
The problem was with post install configuration, because script tried to do something with startup/shutdown procedures, but on my laptop mysql server is disabled at startup (I'm manually starting it when needed).
I fixed this problem with enabling mysqld startup by running: 'sudo update-rc.d mysql enable' and then post install script worked as intended. I think that someone should look into creating a workaround for post installation script to not fail in case mysql startup is disabled by default.
Thank you guys for your hard work!

Thanks you so much for your report and the nice pre-analysis.
I think it makes sens to harden the maintainer scripts against that case, yet I think it is a low (maybe medium?) prio issue.
If anyone is willing to provide a patch for it we are surely supportive to help reviewing and integrating it.
