Mysql ssl connection fail on lucid after compiling with openssl

Bug #593406 reported by Guillermo Simeon
This bug affects 1 person
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
mysql-5.1 (Ubuntu)

Bug Description

After successfully recompiling Mysql to use Openssl in Lucid (debuild), connection to remote server fail : SSL connection error.
With Mysql 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3

It is a regression bug since it was working fine in Karmic.
The same problem occurred in Etch, when everything was fine with Lenny.

To successfully connect to remote Mysql server in Lucid, I recompiled Mysql with last Karmic build : Mysql 5.1.37-1ubuntu5.4
I had to downgrade akonadi and install libboost-program-options1.38.0_1.38.0-6ubuntu6_i386 (for akonadi)
Everything works fine doing so.

1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you Chuck.
Here is related post in my blog that described what should works.
It show how to compile deb packages of mysql with openssl (in karmic since it was working fine).
It is written in french, but since it is a howto, it is easy to follow.

Here is a post in my blog that describe how to make it works in Lucid.
French howto.

I expect to successfully connect to remote Mysql server with ssl encryption using openSSL.
