Same incident for me.
I used the URL as it was stated in the instructions to do so:
"You can drag the url for the desired dictionary listed below and drop it on the extensions manager window in Thunderbird (Tools / Extensions)" (from : http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/dictionaries.html).
But TB crashed...
