I don't know much about the way you roll out your workstations ... how
do you do it? How get packages installed? How do you configure your system?

One cause for an endless loop could be a not registered/up-to-date
component/chrome system in thunderbird. To cure this, invoking
update-mozilla-thunderbird-chrome once as root should cure you.

If not ... lets see.
