When I disable splash I get the same problem. In my case I suspect the problem is related to the viafb module that is present on kernel 2.6.32 but not on 2.6.31.
If you can boot disabling splash, I guess your problem is different.
In this case you should file a different bug.
If someone else will decide it is the same and then mark one of them as duplicated, and the other as confirmed.
You can see if your hardware is the same as mine by looking at the attached files (such as lspci.txt).
