Still doesn't work.

Network Card: Option GlobeTrotter 3G (Option N.V. Qualcomm MSM6275 UMTS chip)
network-manager 0.8~a~git.20091103t012953.dccdf5e-0ubuntu1~nmt1 (from networkmanager PPA)
modemmanager 0.2.git.20091031t001131.107f950-0ubuntu2~nmt1 (from networkmanager PPA)

When I try to connect for the first time, it tries for a while and says that it's disconnected. If I try again, machine becomes very slow and syslog grows at megabyte a minute rate by repeated entries of the following kind:
