Thanks for chasing down a patch. I've packaged it for jaunty and stuck it in my ppa for testing:

It might be feasible for an SRU, so I'll add the jaunty task and mark it fixed in karmic since this patch is already included in the version we have there. But I'd like to see more extensive testing done to be sure it doesn't cause regressions first. If you can scare up half a dozen people to give it a try and we find no regressions, then we can look at SRUing it.
