Tried with intel git master, problem is still there.

However, as per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/320813, the following option in ~/.drirc solves the issue:

            <option name="vblank_mode" value="1" />

So perhaps this is to be considered a compiz bug?
