On a laptop with a HDMI screen plugged (using same image on all monitors):
It seems that after power management feature kicks in (in my case a blank screen) and actions are resumed that the original (laptop) screen remains with a full light grey and is unusable.
Recreation steps:
1. plug in a hdmi monitor into the hdmi plug of your laptop;
2. while the laptop remains charged+plugged in the wall watch something with celluloid then resume in 2+ hours;
3. on external screen: full working desktop with mouse cursor and colors;
on laptop screen: full light grey screen, no life
nb: by totally unplugging (power and hdmi cable) the laptop it screen remains unusable but TTY1-6 will work.
By replugging both cables the desktop will again show on the external screen but laptop screen will remain unusable.

On a laptop with an external screen hooked up via HDMI, using the following power management settings:
-On AC power(tab): 1. never 2. do nothing 3. 30 mins 4. 48% 5. not checked
-On Battery Power(tab): 1. never 2. Suspend 3. <nothing> 4. 10 mins 5-6-7 checked
-General(tab): 1. Ask me 2. Suspend 3. Never
And also using the following monitor preferences: Same image in all monitors (Mirror screens)
That everytime I close down the laptop while watching something on the external monitor that I loose it's display. By "loose" I mean that the laptop screen goes into dark grey and never can be used. Unplugging the HDMI cable leaves the laptop screen into it's dim state. Replugging in the external monitor via HDMI cable will result in it displaying properly again.
Alternating through the text TTY works fine.
This problem seems to have started with 22.10 and is now even easily reproduced in with 23.10

Everytime the laptop lid is shutdown and celluloid is playing that the laptop screen goes into dark grey permanently.
Unplugging the HDMI cable leaves the laptop screen into it's dim state. Replugging in the external monitor via HDMI cable will result in it displaying properly again.
Alternating through the text TTY works fine.
This problem seems to have started around with 22.10 but is now a daily part of 23.10
