There are already two (non-duplicate) bugs reported.

Bug 228067 is a bug with LyX that is fixed in version 1.5.5-1. As a result of "incompatibility" with the latest version of Qt4 (present in Hardy Backports and Intrepid), LyX fails to start. This bug is currently open because the source package of LyX 1.5.5-1 in Intrepid failed to build (apparently because of a problem with a boost dependency). Note that LyX 1.5.5-1 is present in Intrepid as a source package, but the binary packages failed to build (even though LyX was successfully backported without source changes).

Bug 242648 is a backport request. This bug was fixed when LyX 1.5.5-1 (with no changes) was uploaded to Hardy Backports and binary packages were successfully built.

I will mark this bug report as a duplicate of Bug 228067, since that bug report is still open.
