Bug Description

Lubuntu groovy gorilla QA-test 'live'

This is NOT a new bug, re-filing as descriptions of my 'likely-duplicates' details didn't perfectly match.. Possible/likely duplicate of

(the description didn't fit; in that report I couldn't duplicate it on this display setup)

(except that was x86/i386 & really old but matches perfectly)

** Description

Display arrangement (Monitor.Settings) has been changed many times, now left-right display (both 1920x1080), in the screendump the cursor is below the L of "Lubuntu 20.04" on wallpaper bottom-left of right-monitor. I right-click panel & the menu opens on the far right of left-monitor (ie. wrong display to where my cursor/pointer is).

** Expected result

Menu should open above cursor/pointer, OR at least near by and on same monitor/screen

the main menu also opens on wrong physical display (screen position is only slightly left of the panel as shown on the screen_main-menu.jpg) - again this behavior has been noted before in bug reports but usually on landscape+portrait setup displays (this is 2xlandscape).

I switched the panel to show on the other display (right click on panel, configure panel & make it show on "Bottom of desktop 2" (ie. other desktop) and NOTHING changed.

Closed the [configure panel] window, re-opened it repeating process, (right-click on pane, configure panel & make it show on "Bottom of desktop 1") and NOW ALL ISSUES DESCRIBED IN THIS BUG REPORT no longer exist.

This behavior has been noted before too, but I've had issues re-creating it (leading upstream to hypothesize it's a value that isn't initialized..

If I repeat the process described in this comment - it won't re-occur, and I bet all related screen bugs won't re-occur until I reboot & start the 'live' session again.

panel is bottom of one(bottom) display, but menu is opening on bottom of other(top) display... screen image taken .. the cursor is on menu at the very bottom left of the display, you'll note menu opening half-way up, or bottom of upper monitor

(my monitors are setup one above the other, primary display is bottom monitor

displays modified to match my setup, panel on the lower monitor, however the menu when it opens is on the upper monitor

comments on screen-capture:

top monitor has news streaming in firefox; fullscreen at the time
lower has a pcmanfm-qt window that wasn't being used, I opened menu expecting it to appear on lower display near the panel, alas on other monitor...

Lubuntu daily (live QA-test) on
- dell [optiplex] 755 (c2d-e8300, 8gb, amd/ati radeon rv610/radeon hd2400 pro/xt)

This issue was NOT discovered during my actual QA-test, but subsequent when I used the box for support purposes (askubu question relating to 1366x768 displays; this box is closest with a 1024x768 display..., this issue doesn't relate to support question)

** actual results

Clicking on menu, the menu is opening far away from the panel (on other display).

Panel is on on landscape left-monitor (menu button far left), yet menu is appearing on right-monitor (portrait).

Bug fits https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxqt-panel/+bug/1809205 but I've now marked that as incomplete as it's old (disco).

I did some play (comment #7)
Note: landscape (with panel) & portrait monitors

- logout & login and issue still OCCURS
- installed `xfwm4` & switched to that
- logout & login & so now using `xfwm4` & issue is GONE, however the panel is now on the portrait monitor so it's not the same...
- i forced panel to other (landscape on left) display and issue still does not occur
- switched back to `openbox`, logout & login again
- issue is NOT occurring now here either...

this was repeated a few times and I could not get issue to re-occur... (like it never does on my primary box).

This issue is of low importance in my opinion, hard to get it to occur (chance) & then it won't generally re-occur like now for me. It'll be heard for devs to find, confirm let alone fix.
