In this case, the bug should be called "SDL applications do not use PulseAudio on LTSP", because if I understand correctly, PulseAudio is the only way of getting sound to LTSP clients.
IMO, this should be a global Ubuntu default, not just Edubuntu, as users are likely to experience problems (like I have many times) in this area.
An SDL patch was applied to Intrepid in #216397 which greatly improves SDL's compatibility with PulseAudio. Setting the 'pulse' audio driver as SDL's default should definitely be done.
