The linux-phc project's powernow-k8 module will work just fine on 3.2 kernels with some trivial tweaking. The catch is, the module needs to replace the kernel's own powernow-k8 driver to work correctly. In the generic Ubuntu kernel, powernow-k8 is builtin, necessitating a complete rebuild of the kernel. Were it a module instead, I could simply blacklist the module and be on my merry way.
