the mouse seems not to show the described behavior in the kernel i installed (linux-headers-3.4.0-030400rc2-generic 3.4.0-030400rc2.201204072235).

as the behavior by itself occurs without an observable pattern, i could just have been (un?)lucky in the last hours, but the problem seems to have been resolved by the upgrade.
