Also: do I need a "hard reset" to make the script work? I've saved the script in /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d, suspended, resumed, but closing the lid didn't trigger a suspension. So I was wondering if some other operation is needed to make it work. Thanks again to juanmanuel for the effort and the patience with this issue.
