fwiw, it still happens with:
$ uname -a
Linux nsn7 3.19.0-30-generic #33~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Tue Sep 22 09:27:00 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

And the BIOS is newer also:
# dmidecode -s bios-version
