So it looks like the following commit caused the regression:

I can build a test kernel with commits up to:
3cb603284b3d256ae9ae9e65887cee8416bfef15 Merge branch 'hwmon-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/groeck/linux-staging

That was the commit just before efb8d21b2c6db3497655cc6a033ae8a9883e4063

I'll post the location of the test kernel shortly. It would be great if folks affected by this bug can test the kernel and provide feed back.
