clarification: the system affected, basquette is a desktop system. my interactive session is an ssh from a laptop. The screen is completely hung, cannot switch vt's with Ctrl-Alt, the sound is hung as well emitting a 1 second sequence in a loop (turned it off...) no local access to the desktop is possible.
