Bug is still present in Ubuntu 16.04 as of:
Linux 4.4.0-59-generic #80-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 6 17:47:47 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Seems like some problem with resetting the msr register after a suspend. More here :
