2.6.32-45 seemed to boot fine (judging by disk activity), but it finally froze while showing the blue Kubuntu screen and no disk activity. Perhaps kernel is too old for current FS/software/whatever. Toggling Num Lock on the keyboard was fine, so it wasn't a hard lock up. Ctrl+Alt-F1-F2 etc didn't work. Ctrl+Alt-Del worked and the machine rebooted. RAID members weren't marked as OFFLINE, so it's a good sign.
