Hi -I have a Lenovo T400. The patch does not work for me. In the beginning I could get the laptop display to brighten by connecting an external monitor. That does not work any more. Suspend and resume does not work. Changing users does not work. So now the laptop is not usable unless I have a monitor with me. Even trying to launch the Live CD will not activate the laptop. I had it set to never sleep or dim but then the other day for no known reason it did it anyway and now I cannot get it back. I have tried to install xbacklight. The brightness setting on the Screen does nothing. It is set to the max but moving it up or down does not have any impact on the display. The function keys do nothing as well. Using the xbacklight command also does nothing. I would really like some ideas here as at this point it is totally unusable when I travel which is all the time. I tried the https://launchpad.net/~kamalmostafa/+archive/stuck-backlight. I installed the ppa and did and update and reboot. Since I cannot see the screen on startup I have no idea what it selected. I do not get a screen on the monitor until AFTER the login page. Even the login page will not show up on the external monitor now even when the settings are set to Mirror. So in my opinion this has gotten worse. Please let me know what else I can try!! Or if I should go back to 11.10. I have been using this laptop since Ubuntu 9 with no issues so this is all from 11.10.
