@James Frank: My testing indicates that this bug is fixed in Precise Alpha-1 (the 3.2.0-2.5 kernel). Some systems may still need to use the kernel boot parameter "acpi_backlight=vendor" however. Guidance on using kernel boot parameters is available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBootParameters .
