Exact same behavior with 2.6.20-9.16.
I've started a new thread on the mainboard manufacturer support forum for help / advice. I suspect this is a bios issue. URL to aforementionned thread: http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread.php?t=121169.

Let me know if you need anything else (acpidump to check if the problem is in the bios or somewhere else ?)
