Some data from me:
Sitting around 3m away from the router I get:
Wifi quality: 150Mbps, 89%

1035 packets transmitted, 1035 received, 0% packet loss, time 1039286ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 22.178/

Thinkpad T510 on Kubuntu oneiric

So I can't really complain about my N performance and can't say I've ever noticed this during oneiric.
