here is the line from /etc/fstab

//192.168.1.147/mp3 /smb/mp3 cifs auto,credentials=/home/drunkeneye/.smbcredentials,user,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 0 0

smbcredentials has the two lines

username=drunkeneye
password=...

(one extra empty line)
