Bug Description

## Issue

- Popping the laptop out of the docking station results in the machine

becoming unresponsive and the screen corruption.

- "[drm:pch_irq_handler] *ERROR* PCH poison interrupt" entries in

/var/log/syslog when T520 or x220 is removed from docking station

## Environment

- Natty 11.04 i386

- Lenovo x220 or T520 (Sandy Bridge)

- Laptop booted while in docking station with external monitor attached

- Machine removed from docking station

## Resolution

- There appears to be a fix for this upstream:

  http://tinyurl.com/67u2x2f

## Diagnostic Steps

- Boot X220 or T520 under 2.6.38-8 while in a docking station with monitor

  attached

- Once logged into the GUI, pop the machine out of the docking station

- The screen blinks as if it's detecting new monitor configuration, but then

either goes blank or becomes correupted (tiled background is the usual

  effect)

I notice that changing to other X Terminal Ctrl-Alt-F8 and then back to Ctrl-Alt-F7 (can sometimes) bring X back. Sometimes not, then I restart service gdm. Sometimes machines completely crashes.

The fix for this should be in 2.6.38.8 which hasn't yet made it into natty-proposed or natty-updates, can you give this kernel a shot?

Are there any news on this issue? I still can not dock/undock my X220 while running, which is really annoying … :/

IThanks for checking that and I'm sorry about the delayed response. One more kernel to try if possible, would you mind seeing if this kernel fixes it? It just contains a backport of the commit that disables FBC by default and provides a module option to reenable it in an opt-in fashion which I highly believe is the correct thing to do for natty. If it works I will send the patch to the kernel team list for inclusion in natty-proposed.
