This is still a problem. I'm on Ubuntu 12.04 and started a thread one year ago about this issue here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=11915945 .

Basically temperature idles around 50 degrees and on average use bounce up to around 60. I haven't tried any intensive tasks yet.
From what I've noticed the fan always seem to run at the same setting and never boosting up or settling down. However 50 degrees is 10 degrees higher than Windows 7 during low CPU load.

If there's anything I can do let me know.
