But Dell Inspiron 1545 is listed on Ubuntu-certified hardware list: http://www.ubuntu.com/certification/hardware/200910-4252:200911-4633:200912-4896:200912-4897
So I don't understand, why ubuntu is not working with this laptop properly. I have the same machine and I also have problem with overheating(on 10.04,10.10 and 11.04). I tried adding acpi_osi=Linux to the kernel boot options in /etc/default/grub but it didn't have any effect. Laptop is usable, but hdd is reaching 50-60 degree which is definitly not OK. I'd really appreciate some action here. I bought this laptop, because it's listed as "ubuntu certificated" so I believed it will worked flawlessly "out of the box".
