Bug Description

Not sure if this is an X bug or a Kernel bug, but it ONLY happens after a hibernate/resume cycle.

The system hibernates and resumes just fine. However, once resumed, the display is at least 3/4 black with only a strip on the right side being visible. The desktop is still there, just not visible. Imagine someone laying a blanket over the left 3/4 of the desktop.

Im attaching a picture I took to show you exactly what I saw.

Now, to work around this, all I have to do is suspend the system and resume from that. I tried using switch user (didn't try restarting X). But after hibernation, if I do a suspend/resume cycle, video is restored to it's former glory without losing any work that was in progress.

Forgot to mention, for clarity, that the Latitude 2120 is the only system I've seen this happen with. All others have been ok when resuming from hibernate.

Finally, here's a screenshot taken using printscreen when I was seeing this. As you can see from this screen capture, the data is all there, it's just the display itself that's mucked up.

I'm experiencing this as well on my HP mini 110 netbook. Unfortunately, the screen is 100% covered by this "blanket" with rows of purple bogus at the top.

Also, I'm still able to get into tty1-6, just not the fancy graphics on tty7.

This is a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/745304 which is already fixed in the 2.6.38-9 kernel in proposed, it would be appreciated if you could please test that.
