I have the same issue. It affects Toshiba Portege R830 model.
After many tries with s2ram and memory_corruption_check_size options
(all of them resulted the same: blank screen, noisy fans and lack of any response).
To highlight the situation I tried to suspend only from console with init=/bin/bash
option.
