Laptop does not connect to wireless when using batteries.

The laptop with battery only shows the available networks, but can not make the link. When I connect the laptop to electric power, the wireless link works.
In windows this problem does not happend.

This a driver issue, where the driver doesn't properly handle being set to power management mode by laptop-mode tools.

Opening a bug task for laptop-mode and linux, we may want to not try to set power-management for some drivers.

This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Additionally, when prompted to give apport-collect permissions for Launchpad you will need to give it at least the ability to "Change Non-Private" data as it will be adding information to your bug report. I think I might have this same bug. But the suggested workaround does not work for me.

I have this setup:

Ubuntu 12.10 64bit (fully up to date)

And the problem is this: When the laptop is not connected to external power my network-manager tells me I'm still connected to the WiFi network. I can disconnect it and reconnect it, no problem. But none of my applications can actually get online, not Software Updater, Dropbox, Firefox or anything else I've tried. Wired network still works, though.

So, is this the same?

I'm seeing the same problem on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5749 Core I-3 4GB RAM 500GB HDD) with Ubuntu Precise 12.04 (64bit).
