Herton generated a kernel image, which can be installed additionally to any existing kernel. After install and reboot, grub lets you choose, which kernel you want to boot, before the system boots into linux. When you're done, you can safely remove Hertons kernel and reboot again. The entry in grub will be removed, while your original kernel is left untouched.
