Yesterday right after I installed Unbuntu Linux (version 2.6.35-22 #33-Ubuntu) on my new Dell M4500, the touchpad worked fine -- I set up vertical and horizontal scrolling and left-edge zooming. But after a reboot (or maybe the updates), the touchpad is no longer recognized, with the exact symptoms detailed above. The current version after the updates is 2.6.35-27-generic-pae #48-Ubuntu. I note that the touchpad is now not recognized by 2.6.35-22 when I boot to my CD. I didn't try a re-install.
