Using drm_kms_helper.poll=0 does not seem to make much difference in my case.
I thought that it may prevent some failed attempts to read EDID before /sys/module/drm_kms_helper/parameters/poll can be set like in comment 10 but this does not seem to be so. I did not try to rebuild initramfs.
