You can try the record of Ubuntu (works for me), in Skype not work the microphone you can try this (works fine for me)

sudo apt-get install paman padevchooser paprefs pavucontrol pavumeter

In pavucontrol unmute microphone and try.

I try this in Ubuntu 10.10, maybe in 11.04 works
