The problem is NOT that the fan goes up. The fan usually goes up once for a short time when you put a laptop in stand by. The problem is that the laptop does not go to stand by, it keeps running (leds are on). I have, however, no idea what it does because the screen is dark and the laptop is no longer reachable via the network.

I assume that some final step in the process of going to stand by is not executed.
