On a eeePC 1000HE, wireless stopped working part way during the upgrade to 11.10 and did not come back; ifconfig showed no wireless interface, lshw -c net showed the device as UNCLAIMED.
I just rebooted and chose kernel 2.6.38-11-generic instead of the latest/default kernel (3.0.0-12-generic), and wireless is working again, like it did in 11.04.
