Andy, I can confirm this happens for *3g* with my 3g usb key on my system fully updated. However, I have absolutely never seen the same happen with pure wifi drivers. It however seemed to not only affect touchpad, but also my USB mouse.

I will test with today's daily image and try to turn on as much debugging info I can get from ModemManager/NetworkManager to figure out which calls cause the mouse to lock.
