Everyone, can you please confirm that using nolapic instead of noacpi will let you boot normally? It seems to work for me, and this narrows the search for the bug.
Also, from my experience, the last version that seems to work for me is http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.35-rc1-lucid/ I would suggest everyone install this version, see if it works for you (without disabling acpi) to see if this is indeed the same bug.
