It seems that the problem is indeed gone with 3.4.x - at least I haven't encountered it for the past two+ weeks after I've upgraded to 3.4.
Supposedly, the patches listed here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1084733#p1084733 fixed the problem.
