Comment 108 for bug 608907

After updating from 2.6.38-8-generic to 2.6.38-9-generic or 2.6.38-11-generic i got black screen on boot (Systems runs behind black screen.)
The black screen is also present in recovery mode.
2.6.38-9-generic or 2.6.38-11-generic boots fine with nomodeset parameter.
Thought it was a "new" Unity problem, since i hadn't seen it since 10.04 and 10.10, but Xubuntu have same symptoms.
