I feel stuck at this point. I would like to test some more but I don't really have any good ideas.

Is there some kind of pulse audio reconfiguration that I should try?

Should I try to remove pulse audio?

Should I try a fresh install of Kubuntu 10.04 on my spare hard drive to see if it causes problems?
