Hi,
I am the submitter of duplicate bug 579999.
This issue has been "fixed" for me by doing the following:

sudo gedit /etc/default/grub

change : GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

to : GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet acpi=force"

sudo update-grub
