i have the same problems. suspend / hibernate does not work, the back-light does not go off and it never really goes to sleep. network is also disabled after a reboot.
interestingly, suspend works when i suspend on the login-screen on a normal boot. (there is no hibernate option, so i could not try that out.) so maybe the problem is something that gets loaded after the login?
