I have the same issue as all previous posters.
Attempting to install BackTrack5r3 onto a Dell E6410 with Intel Graphics (Model pp27LA)
When attempting to "startx" on a Live USB BT5r3 the monitor goes completely blank.
Kernel panics indicated by consistent flashing blue battery and wifi icons.
I have researched online for the past 3-4 hours and read through the 220 previous comments.
I am fairly new to troubleshooting linux/ubuntu.
So is there a solution to help me with this installation?
I just figured out that I can go into the YUMI liveUSB bootloader and press tab to edit the boot lines for backtrack
I just need to add, "nomodeset" to the end of the line after init.??
