This worked:

boot in recovery mode (after installing using Clonezilla... See the link to apply it on a LiveCD or AlternateCD)

"echo options i915 modeset=1 | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf
sudo update-initramfs -u"
