I can't comment reliably on whether it's still an issue or not, as the box where I was reproducing it is no longer running Ubuntu (that machine is vanilla Debian GNU/Linux now, for various reasons unrelated to this bug).

But I suspect that after this much time, the bug is probably fixed for everyone, or we would have heard some noise in this issue in the last couple of years. So, I think it's safe to close. Your call, though.
