Attached is a poor man's screenshot illustrating what I see on boot when I disable splash from the boot command.

Originally I'd left my laptop for 10-15 mins without any progress. This time I left it for ~45 mins and I just noticed that it actually did boot into the live desktop, it just took forever.

Is there any additional information I can provide?
